Make a Ziz Sock Puppet
This sock puppet was featured in a rave review of The Hardest Word on the Jewish Early Childhood Educators' Exchange web site. The creator says she had no pattern, but sat down with a copy of The Hardest Word and just did her best to re-create the lovable big bird. If you want to make a puppet of your own, you'll need these materials:
an adult yellow sock
purple, red, orange, and green felt
purple, red, orange, and green felt
The wings on the pictured puppet are floppy, and the legs hang as well. So puppet makers may want to hot glue pipe cleaners along the back of the wings to make them less floppy.
